Mobile operators: how do they process payments?

Not too long ago, mobile operators had one job: to create and distribute some form of network that allows people to communicate with each other via telephone. Gradually, this evolved so that individuals can access the Internet on their devices and now, things have gone even further. With developments in the fintech space and thanks to collaboration between various parties, telecommunication companies are able to process payments nowadays.

Several firms came together to create the direct operator billing system. This is the tech that Digital Global Pass has used to design its settlement services. What is it exactly? Well, this system allows network service providers to process charges for online shoppers via their mobile account. The mobile operator will use the buyers’ details in its possession to verify his/her identity and validate the settlement. Charges will be added to their phone bill.

As such, if you want to use SMS+ or Internet+, you do not need a credit/debit card or a bank account. This is some welcome news for unbanked and underbanked customers who could not enjoy online buying facilities. Now, they do not have to worry about anything. They just need to be equipped with a device that is connected to the Internet.
